CEDA use of Zenodo

CEDA make use of Zenodo as a repository for grey literature items that are not stored elsewhere (see this article for a workflow to figure out if your item ought to be in the archive, Zenodo or the Artefacts service).

At present Zenodo only allows one account to be an owner of a given item (they are hoping to change this in due course). This presents an issue around CEDA being able to maintain items in the long run as staff change and holding this in balance with staff retaining control of their own outputs too.

This help article is to help determine whether to add items to Zenodo under your own account or via a central CEDA account.

Start:

  1. Is this material from an external provider? Yes -> ask them to deposit it into Zenodo using this link: https://zenodo.org/deposit/new?c=ceda-document-repository . This will get it submitted to the CEDA doc repo community too, but they can maintain the item themselves.
  2. Is the material already related to CEDA core work (e.g. dataset related items, annual reports, etc)? Yes -> Add using CEDA central account
    Else:
  3. Is the material related to CEDA work more generally (e.g. project work CEDA has been funded for)? Yes -> Add using CEDA central account
    Else:
  4. Is the material other work (e.g. github repository tagged release)?Yes -> Add using our own Zenodo account, but submit to the CEDA Docs Repository Community using this link: https://zenodo.org/deposit/new?c=ceda-document-repository
