Storage of Databases within the archive

Databases will be preserved "as-is" and a note produced for users to inform them that these files will not be readable in the long term. The information content will also be stored as an SQL dump of the database or a set of xml files. In some cases where the database would be a highly desirable dataset and where a database structure provides much greater functionality than flat files can provide would justify effort being put into making the database available via an on-line interactive interface (e.g. such as for MIDAS). However, where possible CF conventions should be included in the databases by the data providers.
